    Product Description

Under the watchful eyes and ears of Lorex Baby, you can be truly confident of your little one's well-being whenever and wherever you are.  Complete with a 2.4" rechargeable handheld monitor that has up to 8 hours of battery life, move freely around the house knowing you have a set of "eyes and ears" on your baby.  Featuring crystal clear night vision and crisp sound, you can always be in close contact with your baby. Help your baby back to sleep using the two-way talk feature or with soothing lullabies, and of course don't forget about the camera's built-in nightlight. Expandable with up to 4 additional cameras (not included), Lorex Baby grows as your family grows.

Good aspects of this baby monitor that are different than the other Lorex I own (LW2450): Both pieces feel sturdier-Monitor feels like it could withstand being accidentally dropped. If baby somehow gets to camera, the electronics may have a better chance of survival. There's a night-light on camera and you have option of going completely wireless for the entire system. A rechargeable lithium battery is included in the monitor and the camera allows one to put in 4 AAA batteries.

The Sweet Peek camera is pretty stationary (aside from some raising and lowering of top that one can do manually, and is wall mountable). So, I really missed having the use of LW 2450's Pan/Tilt camera. That one easily pans and tilts (with a toggle button on the handheld) that covers most of our of large bedroom. That Lorex system allows you to add to it a range of cameras (both indoor and outdoor), but this Sweet Peek only allows you to add another fixed Sweet Peek camera, BB2411AC1 (also found on Amazon).

This Sweet Peek's zoom and minimal pan of the lens can frustrate those that want to use it straightaway without having to learn too much. Though the directions are pretty good (lots of drawings), this system is not as user-friendly as I had hoped. Buttons serve multiple functions and some must be combined with others, so you have to read up on it. For this reason, DO NOT lose the manual.

I was surprised that the clip on the back of monitor did not have a hinge, so that I could prop it up on a desk. Then I noticed that the bottom has two plastic nubs to help it stand straight up on a level surface. If you can, back it up against a wall for additional support. If not, the monitor has a good chance of being knocked over if you aren't real careful.

Also, my son noticed that there was a lag in the sound when I spoke to him through the speaker in the other room (doesn't happen to us if both camera and monitor are in same room). To adjust to this, I had to hold the talk button button a couple seconds before talking so that the first part of what I was saying was not cut off.

Like the other Lorex previously mentioned, it has night vision and can be set on voice activated (or scan) mode (where the monitor turns on when there's a certain level of noise). Both also display room temperature, play selections of soothing music, and allow you to talk through the speakers. They both include screws/anchors and cable clips (the clips were missing from the Sweet Peek).

The Sweet Peek says "connect from anywhere" on box with images of baby's face on different hardware, but I see no mention of this in the manual that accompanies this product and there's no USB port anywhere on this device.

On the other hand, the other Lorex (LW2450) has a USB port and includes a USB cable for this purpose. It also has a much bigger viewing screen on the hand held monitor that can rest on a charging base to be charged (so that monitor can be used wirelessly) and a hinged stand on back to be securely propped up. Despite this, the monitor is noticeably thinner than the Sweet Peek and almost the exact same length.

The LW2450 even allows you to record and replay video. It has a much bigger manual that goes into great detail (though I rarely needed it) about its many features, particularly the online access to the camera. It is much more user-friendly with great interactive menus that are easily readable.

This Sweet Peek is a good baby monitor to purchase at the right price. I would have given another star to this Lorex product if it was appropriately priced as a "stripped down" version of the LW2450. We did notice that the color seemed a bit more vivid with the Sweet Peek. This, along with the built-in night light and clothes clip cannot make up for the frustration when trying to access key functions

I have one other video baby monitor, which actually costs more, and find myself using this set more. It's very handy, easily portable, and visual quality is excellent... especially in pitch dark.

After a very easy plug and play setup, you are ready to go right out of the box with little effort. Place it anywhere and use it anywhere. What more could you ask for. It picks up sound levels to your specifications, and is silent by choice on the other end. With a wide range, I am able to go into the basement or even my driveway, and still have a clear signal. The best appeal is that the monitor goes into your pocket allowing you that much needed extra hand when moving around.

It's plugged in mostly at all times, but you can move it around without wires when you need to. Use rechargeable AAA batteries and you are good to go without waste.

The most impressive part of this is in fact the night vision feature. I put the unit in my linen closet, pitch black, and could see everything clearly. Highly recommended. And a perfect shower gift!
